This inexpensive, compact and lightweight device has become a staple in the field and is similar in function to the periphyton. The most adaptable artificial substrate sampler on the market, its EPA recommended in 2 versions. Suspend it, float it or attach it to submerged objects such as boulders or stakes. Leave it in place for 2 or more weeks, then scrape the critters off the plates and analyze in the lab. Constructed of 1/8 (3 mm) thick tempered masonite for longer field life, with nylon spacers and SS hardware. Wingnut at the bottom for easy disassembly.

Its 14 square plates are separated by 24 round spacers – 8 single, 1 double, 2 triple, 2 quadruple. Generally 5 are used together, tied to a weight to prevent contact with natural substrates.
